How to create good passwords
Rules for good passwords
- Learn them by heart
- Make them easy to remember
- Quick to key in
- Never write them down
- Never store them in any electronic form
- Different on different installations
- Passwords are secret and personal
- Make them at least 7 characters long
- Change them at least every 6 months
Choice of good passwords
- Use a cryptic password simply constructed from UPPERCASE and lowercase
letters together with numerals and/or special characters
- Special characters and numerals should always be placed in the middle
of the password

A word of warning
In addition to the above guidelines on how to create good passwords,
you should avoid using the characters '#' (hash-mark), "@"
(at-sign) and non-US-ASCII characters (such as national language
characters and accentuated characters). If you do use any of these characters,
you might experience problems logging in when using modems and/or terminals
with another keyboard layout.
The examples of good passwords are only intended as a guide, and may
never be used in practice!
